How to Find My Router IP Address
When connecting to the internet using a router your computer needs to know the IP address of the router for it to complete the connection. You may think that it is a very complicated process that needs a networking expert to do but with the following simple steps, you can easily do it by yourself and save the cost of a technician.
From the start up menu, you can click on Run where you can type in the letters ‘cmd’ to take you into the Dos command prompt. You can also access it from the programs menu from start up then choose accessories where you will get the ‘command prompt.’ Now you can type in the command “netstat -n’ then press on enter to view the information provided on both your local address which is your IP and also the Default Gateway.
The Default Gateway is the IP address of your router because it is the one which will act like the gate to usher you into the internet.
You can also get the same from the My Network places of your computer where you need to click on the local networks icon then click on the properties option. On the TCI/IP option click on the properties tab again where you will be able to see all the information about your IP address and the Default gateway if it is not tampered with. The former option is more suitable because it is going to retrieve the information from the system. Hopefully we have answered the question “how do I find my IP address?”.
